About the project – Nutrimodule

The World Health Organization (WHO) constantly emphasizes that a balanced and varied diet can significantly increase life expectancy, and that unhealthy eating is the main risk factor for obesity, overweight and non-communicable diseases (cardiovascular, type 2 diabetes, cancer, etc.). According to the WHO, 80% of heart disease and stroke could be prevented by reducing lifestyle risk factors.

In this context, SAFE Food Advocacy Europe was selected to coordinate the project Erasmus+ „Undergraduate Medical University Module in Nutrition: Connecting health and nutrition to help reduce non-communicable diseases” (2022-2024). Main goal: systematic integration of nutrition into university medical curricula in Europe.

My role in the project

I was responsible for the complete development of the LMS platform in Drupal, from concept and architecture to final implementation and handover to international partners.

Key implemented functionalities:

  • Complete Learning Management System (LMS) based on Drupal 9/10
  • Multi-role user management (admin, teacher, student, project partner)
  • Module-structured courses with individual student progress
  • Multimedia materials (video, PDF, interactive quizzes)
  • Evaluation system and graduation certificates
  • Multilingual support (English + possibility of extension)
  • 100% GDPR compliance (essential for user data from several EU countries)
  • Responsive design and WCAG 2.1 accessibility
  • Integration with official Erasmus+ and partner logos and branding
  • SEO and performance optimization (PageSpeed ​​100)

Results & Impact

The platform is currently used by partner universities in Belgium, Italy and Poland to teach the nutrition module in medical schools. The project actively contributes to the EU objective of reducing non-communicable diseases through evidence-based higher medical education in nutrition.
